NYOBS
Perched on the border wall between Brooklyn and The Lower East Side (otherwise known as New York’s East River) NYOBS is the alternative experimental free association queer skinned “kitchen“ band born at the Punk Island Festival. From trance lyrics to primal screams NYOBS pierces the restive soul with mindblowing inducements of tonal & aural synthesthesia. Traversing extremes that produce hypnomanic swings of subliminal hyper awareness it’s a dreamy trip you’ll want to be on. Hold tight to your squeeze, It’s a rollercoaster. We’re the selfies of sound for all the LGBTQQIAAP Anarchos in the House. We live in New York City, we don't have a garage. We're a kitchen band.

Yoshiko Chuma & The School of Hard Knocks
Yoshiko Chuma (conceptual artist, choreographer/artistic director of The School of Hard Knocks) has been a firebrand in the post-modern dance scene of New York City since the 1980s, has been consistently producing thought-provoking work that is neither dance nor theater nor film nor any other pre-determined category. She is an artist on her own journey. A path that has taken her to over 40 “out of the way” countries and collected over 2000 artists, thinkers and collaborators of every genre since establishing her company The School of Hard Knocks in New York City in 1980. Chuma is in residence at La MaMa through a 2019 MAP Fund grant for a new work “Secret Journey: Love Story, The School of Hard Knocks.” The MAP Fund is supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and The Andrew W. Carlos the 5th and Cyrus Camillus Present: An Evening with Carlos the 5th and Cyrus Camillus
Carlos the 5th’s signature approach to lyricism blends unflinching vulnerability and wry wit into bars that are as compelling as they are irreverent. Cyrus Camillus returns to The Cave to reimagine Carlos’ instrumentals as an unholy sonic marriage of the familiar and the absurd.
